
Tyler Johnson named co-MWL Player of the Week

June 30, 2008 - Kernels OF Tyler Johnson has been named the Midwest League Player of the Week for the week ending June 29. The Midwest League Office and Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) made the announcement Monday morning.
In six games, Johnson posted a .345 BA (8-23) with 3 HR, 7 RBI and five stolen bases. He also had a .793 slugging percentage, had seven extra base hits and scored eight runs. He shares this week's award with Matt Arburr of Quad Cities.
Johnson is the third Kernel to earn weekly honors. LHP Michael Anton was named the MWL Pitcher of the Week on May 12 and OF Jeremy Moore was named the MWL Player of the Week on June 9.
The Kernels wrap up a four game series tonight in Beloit and then begin a four game commuter series at Quad Cities, July 1-4. They return to Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, July 5 and open a three game series with the Kane County Cougars.
