CLINTON, IA - Patrick Kivlehan's walk-off double drove in the winning run for the Clinton LumberKings in the bottom of the tenth as they thwarted the Beloit Snappers 6-5 in Midwest League action at Ashford University Field on Wednesday night.

The loss drops the Snappers to 21-17. Clinton improves to 19-19 and, with a victory on Thursday, can take the series.

A one out double by Guillermo Pimentel off reliever Chris Lamb (1-1) put the winning run on base in the tenth and up next was Kivlehan, who, for the LumberKings, picked the right time for his first hit of the night. The winning pitcher was Oliver Garcia (3-1), who hurled a perfect top of the tenth.

Clinton went up 1-0 in the first inning when a run came across on a double play and then tacked on four more in the second, beginning with a Brock Hebert (2-4, 2 RBI, run) two-run double. Another two-bagger from Dario Pizzano scored Hebert and an RBI single by Tim Lopes accounted for the inning's final run and a 5-0 lead.

Beloit started to climb back into the game in the fifth, tallying two runs on a Chad Lewis (2-4, HR, 2 RBI, run) homer, his first in 2013. They closed to within 5-3 thanks to a Daniel Robertson single in the sixth. Unfortunately, the Snappers missed a golden chance to tie or take the lead in that inning when, with the bases loaded and nobody out, starter Dylan Unsworth struck out three batters in a row to get out of trouble.

With new pitcher David Holman on in the eighth, Beloit continued to close the gap. Bruce Maxwell made the score 5-4 in that inning with a sacrifice fly. In the ninth, John Wooten doubled and, two batters later, with his team down to it's final out, Christopher Bostick tied the game with another double.

The fourth and final game of this series will see a match-up between Beloit's RHP Michael Ynoa (0-0, 1.23) and Clinton's RHP Matt Anderson (1-3, 6.44 ERA). The first pitch time is 6:30pm.
