Smokies Outlast Biscuits 7-6 in 12 Innings

KODAK, Tenn. - After a handful of missed opportunities on both sides, the Tennessee Smokies (65-57/26-28) walked off with a 7-6 win in 12 innings over the Biscuits (66-55/32-21) Friday night at Smokies Park.

The Biscuits took a 6-4 lead into the seventh inning. Albert Almora doubled then scored on a wild pitch from Brad Schreiber to make it a one run game. Willson Contreras then clubbed a solo home run to tie the game.

No runs would score for the next four innings. The Smokies left the winning run in scoring position in the eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh innings before Almora finally came through with a single into center that scored Anthony Giansanti from third to end the game.

The Biscuits jumped out to a quick lead with an RBI single from Cam Seitzer in the first inning. Tyler Goeddel drove in two runs with a double as a part of a three-run third that gave the Biscuits a 4-0 lead. Justin O'Conner and Jake DePew would each drive in runs in the sixth inning to give the Biscuits a 6-2 lead before the Smokies scored twice in the sixth.

The Biscuits went 4-for-13 with runners in scoring position while the Smokies stranded 16 on base and went 4-for-15 with runners in scoring position.

The Biscuits and Smokies were scheduled to play a double-header, but due to the first game lasting over four hours and 20 minutes, a double-header is now scheduled for Saturday starting at 4:35 CT.

RH Jake Faria will throw game one of the double-header while the Biscuits have not yet announced game two starter. The Smokies will throw RH Fernando Cruz and LH Jeffry Antigua.
