
Suns Sweep Twin Bill with BayBears 2-1, 11-3

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns (21-32, 50-72) in a twin bill with the Mobile BayBears (28-23, 62-58) walked-off a winner in game one 2-1 and decisively took the finale 11-3 Friday night from Bragan Field.
In the opener, Juancito Martinez (W, 2-2) earned the victory after tossing a perfect eighth frame out of the Suns bullpen. Mobile bullpen arm Adam Miller (L, 2-7) earned a losing decision after allowing the game-winning unearned run on one hit while walking one and not collecting a strikeout.
The scoring would begin in the bottom of the first when Eudy Pina lined a lead off single, to then get knocked home with two outs courtesy of a fielding error on Mobile outfielder Socrates Brito to make the tally 1-0 in the Suns favor.
Moving to the top of the sixth Mobile's Socrates Brito blasted a triple to then come around to score on the same play courtesy of a throwing error on Suns second baseman David Adams, which tied the score at one.
Onto the eighth, with the Suns now facing BayBears reliever Adam Miller, Matt Juengel worked a lead off walk to then move to second. David Adams then provided a game-winning RBI single into centerfield to provide Jacksonville a 2-1 victory, and their third walk-off win.
Suns starter Austin Brice tossed seven frames allowing one run (unearned) on four hits while walking one and striking out eight. BayBears starter Braden Shipley generated seven frames surrendering one run (unearned) while walking one and striking out three.
In game two, Raudel Lazo (W, 3-2) tossed a scoreless pair of inning in relief for Jacksonville in the victory. Will Locante (L, 2-4) took the loss out of the Mobile bullpen relinquishing three runs (all earned) on three hits.
The scoring began after Gabriel Guerrero and Ronnie Freeman collected a pair of run-scoring singles that pushed Mobile ahead 2-0.
Flashing to the bottom of the second, Viosergy Rosa (HR, 8) blasted a solo home run into the bleachers in right to bring the Suns to within a 2-1 deficit.
Moving to the last of the fourth with a pair of runners on, Sharif Othman laced a RBI single into center against Mobile reliever Will Locante, to tie the score at two. Next batter Eudy Pina would then generate a run-scoring single of his own against Mobile reliever Jimmy Sherfy, which put the Suns in front 3-2. Now the bases loaded, and Sherfy offered up a walk to Terrence Dayleg that doubled up Jacksonville's edge to 4-2. David Adams manufactured a two-run base knock to create some insurance and make the tally 6-2. Next batter Viosergy Rosa, (HR, 9) then mashed a three-run home run, his second of the twinbill, that moved the Suns ahead 9-2.
To the last of the fifth, and the Elliot Soto ripped a RBI double into left scoring Ryan Rieger who led off the frame with a walk. Suns would now lead 10-2. Kenny Wilson tacked on in the frame courtesy of his RBI single making it a 11-2 ballgame in Jacksonville.
To the top of the sixth and Mobile's Raul Navarro ripped a RBI double to cut the Suns lead to 11-3.
The Suns and BayBears will square off in a doubleheader once again Saturday night with a first pitch in the opener set for 5:05 p.m. ET from Bragan Field. In game one the Suns will send out left-hander Chipper Smith (2-3, 4.69 ERA) while the BayBears will counter with righty Edgar Garcia (4-0, 4.28 ERA). In the nightcap the Suns have yet to announce their starter while Mobile will throw righty Gabriel Arias (4-1, 1.90 ERA).
