
Suns Scorch BayBears in Doubleheader Sweep

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Mobile BayBears (28-23, 62-58) dropped both games of a doubleheader against the Jacksonville Suns (21-32, 50-72) on Friday night at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Suns took game one with a 2-1 final in eight innings and then in game two, Jacksonville bested the BayBears 11-3. With both losses on Friday, the BayBears fall out of first place, now tied with the Mississippi Braves, half a game behind the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
The BayBears fell behind in game one when Jacksonville scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out fly ball to left that was miss played by Socrates Brito. The ball sailed over the leftfielder's head and allowed the Suns to score and take a 1-0 advantage.
The scored remained the same until the top of the sixth inning when Socrates Brito scored on a triple and throwing error by Suns second baseman David Adams.
With the score tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jacksonville walked off with the 2-1 win on a RBI base hit up the middle from Adams.
In game two, Jacksonville fell behind early. Mobile scored two runs in the top of the first inning with RBI singles from Gabriel Guerrero and Garrett Weber. The tide turned however in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Suns struck for eight runs in the frame, taking an 8-2 advantage before eventually securing an eight-run win.

The two teams will attempt to make up the second day's worth of rain outs as part of a doubleheader on Saturday night with two scheduled seven-inning games. First pitch in game one on Saturday is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET. The second game will begin roughly 30 minutes after completion of the first contest.
After the conclusion on Saturday's games the BayBears then continue their road trip with five games in Biloxi beginning Sunday evening.
