Crestwood, IL The Joliet Slammers (37-51) lost to Windy City 3-2 (38-50) in the opener of their 3-game series.

Jake Fisher was the story for the Thunderbolts. He retired 14 of the 1st 15 batters he faced on the way to the win. A 2-run homer from Max White gave them an early 2-0 lead. Ransom LaLonde picked up an RBI single in the 6th and that proved to be the game-winner. Mike Garza provided the day's offense for Joliet with an RBI single, double and sacrifice fly. David Kubiak was the starter for the Slammers and went six innings, allowing all three runs on six hits with six strikeouts. Fisher lasted 7 2/3 innings and gave up both Joliet runs on a total of six hits with six strikeouts of his own. Joel Lima closed out the game for his 7th save. Game two of the series will be Saturday at 6:05pm.

The Slammers return home on Friday, Sept. 4th at 7:05pm to open the season-ending three game series vs. Rockford. The opener will be a Fireworks Friday and will be Halloween as well. Dress up and receive a drink voucher. Saturday at 6:05pm will be Breast Cancer Awareness Night and Sunday at 5:05pm closes out the regular season with Fan Appreciation Night. The Joliet Slammers, presented by ATI Physical Therapy, play at Silver Cross Field in downtown Joliet, Illinois, and are members of the professional, independent Frontier League.
