Wisconsin Rapids, WI- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters dropped a disappointing 6-4 extra inning loss Saturday night to Lakeshore Chinooks at Witter Field. The loss affectively dropped the Rafters to 3-4 this season in extra innings loss and the second of the season against the Chinooks.
Jackson Slaid was the story for the Rafters as the Montevallo prospect added two home runs and totaled three RBI on the night, including a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the ballgame at 4-4. The home run was the second of the evening for Slaid, marking the second time this season the Northwoods League home run leader has hit two long balls in a single contest. It was the firsts for Slaid in the second half of the season and his first since July 3 against the Green Bay Bullfrogs, also a two home run game.

Kawlewski twirled a strong 6 2/3 innings pitched, issuing just seven hits, while stranding eight Chinook runners on base throughout the evening. The only run allowed by Kawlewski occurred on a strikeout passed ball in the second inning when Chinook, John Norwood, scored on a strikeout passed by Corey Bobit. The strikeout would have been the final out of the second inning.

Kewlewski, Trevor Koehn, Griffin Glaude and Nick Kolarik combined to toss all 12 innings placed tonight while striking out 14 batters the night, a Rafters season high.
Kolarik labored in the the 12th inning as the Chinooks sent eight men to the plate and scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error by the Rafters short stop, George Ragsdale. The two errors committed by the Rafters defense tonight cost the team four runs.
