
Rox Sweep Alexandria at Home with 8-2 Win

St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Alexandria Blue Anchors finished their two game series here in St. Cloud Saturday night as the Rox defeated the Blue Anchors 8-2.
The Rox got the game started in the bottom of the first as Tim Colwell posted a lead off triple and a single by Clay Williamson would bring in Colwell for the 1-0 lead. Adam Martin singled putting two runners on base for the Rox. Luke Weber followed hitting a single scoring Williamson but was then putout at first. Chris Paul would then single and Daniel Comstock walked to load the bases on one out. On a single by Dustin Breshears the Rox would score to take a 3-0 lead. A Blue Anchors wild pitch scored the fourth run for the Rox in the inning to take a 4-0 lead into the second inning.
St. Cloud came back in the fifth to score one run off a bases loaded sacrifice fly to right field to lead 5-0.
In the top of the sixth Alexandria put up a run off a sacrifice fly to center field making it a 5-1 game in favor of St. Cloud.
The Rox continued to swing the bats as Weber led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Paul then reached on a walk and Comstock was hit by a pitch to load the bases once again for the Rox. A ground out by Breshears took the Rox to a 6-1 lead and a two-run single by Blake Headley put the Rox up 8-1 over the Blue Anchors.
Alexandria got their final run in the top of the eighth off a single with two runners on base making it an 8-2 game.
St. Cloud held on in the top of the ninth as Jordan Talbot came in to close out the game facing three batters and a double play would end the inning with another Rox victory.
On the mound for St. Cloud tonight was starting pitcher Evan Wolf as he pitched six innings and recorded the win for a 2-1 record on the season. Also seeing action was Jay Flaa for two innings and Jordan Talbot for one inning.
The St. Cloud Times Rox' Player of the Game is Chris Paul. Paul went 3-for-3 and scored two runs in the Rox 8-2 victory over the Alexandria Blue Anchors.
The St. Cloud Rox (25-27, 11-6 Second Half) and the Alexandria Blue Anchors (17-34, 7-10 Second Half) will be back in action Sunday as they move their series to Alexandria for one game. Game time is slated for 5:05 p.m.
