
Skyforce Take Cheikh Samb with First Round Pick

Sioux Falls, S.D. (Nov. 1, 2010) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce selected Cheikh Samb, a 7-foot-1, 245-pound center from Senegal, with the 11th overall selection in the 2010 NBA Development League Draft.
Samb appeared in 22 career games with the Detroit Pistons, Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks. He was originally selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round (51st pick overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft before being traded to the Detroit Pistons. This will be his third stint in the NBA D-League as he was assigned to Fort Wayne (Detroit) and Colorado (Denver) during his first two NBA seasons. Samb averaged 10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 blocks in 20 games with the Mad Ants in 2007-08 and recorded a triple-double (12 points, 12 rebounds, 11 blocks) against the Skyforce on Feb. 2, 2008.

The eight players selected by the Skyforce will join training camp invitees Jamal Abu-Shamala, Leemire Goldwire, Anthony Harris, Ralph Holmes, Anthony Mason, Jr., Chris McCray, John Millsap and Brandon Smith in Sioux Falls this weekend for the start of training camp on Monday, Nov. 8.
Season tickets and 12-ticket flex packs for the 2010-11 season are on sale. Discounts and benefits are also available for groups of 10 or more. Single game tickets will go on sale in early November.
