Skyforce Sweep Maine Red Claws

The Skyforce hosted the Maine Red Claws this past weekend for their first back-to-back series of the season and continued their winning ways. After winning two of three on their first road trip of the 2015-16 season, the Skyforce returned to the Sanford Pentagon and got their first victory at home, 97-77. They followed with another win Saturday, 103-93, their fourth consecutive victory by double-digits.

The Skyforce have been led by forward Greg Whittington and guard Tre Kelley early on this season. Whittington, who played nine games for the Miami HEAT's 2015 Summer League team, has started all six games and is averaging 16.5 points while ranking among NBA D-League leaders in rebounds (10.5, eighth) and steals (2.16, seventh). Kelley, who played for Sioux Falls during the 2013-14 campaign, is averaging 16.5 points on 50 percent shooting (39-for-78) and ranks among NBADL leaders in assists (6.0, sixth). DeAndre Liggins is averaging 12.7 points and ranks among NBADL leaders in assists (6.3, tied for fourth) and minutes per game (39.7, seventh) while Bubu Palo has converted 20-of-21 free throws (95.2 percent) and ranks second in the NBADL in free throw percentage.

On Assignment

The Miami HEAT assigned forward/center Jarnell Stokes to the Skyforce this past Tuesday and he caught up with the team in Grand Rapids for Sioux Falls' 103-93 victory over the Drive. His presence was immediately felt, as his team-high 23 points triggered a streak of 20-plus points in three straight games for the former Tennessee Volunteer, en route to averaging 23.0 points and 9.7 rebounds on 68.1 percent shooting from the field in his three games played (all starts). The HEAT recalled Stokes on Sunday and he was back in Miami for Tuesday's contest against the Boston Celtics.

What's Next

The Skyforce will be in search of their fifth consecutive win in their second back-to-back series of the season this Friday as they play host to the Delaware 87ers. The 87ers (3-3) are led by guard Sean Kilpatrick who was named last week's NBA Development League Performer of the Week. Kilpatrick (6-4, 219, Cincinnati) averaged 36.5 points on 58 percent shooting (24-for-43) from the field last week. He rounded out his week averaging 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.50 steals in two games while connecting on 11 of his 19 attempts (58 percent) from behind the arc and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line.

Season tickets, 24-ticket flex packs and single-game tickets are on sale. For more information, please contact a Skyforce representative at (605) 332-0605.
