Beloit Sky Carp News Release
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - For the second time this week, the Sky Carp split a twinbill with the Kernels.
The Carp took game one 9-4 in eight innings, while the Kernels bounced back with an 8-1 victory in game two.
In game one, the teams were tied at 2-2 after the regulation seven innings of play. The Sky Carp then exploded for seven runs in the ninth, and easily hung on despite a pair of runs from the Kernels in the bottom half.
Yiddi Cappe cracked his second home run of the season, a three-run shot that busted the 2-2 tie. Later in the inning, Josh Zamora put the finishing touches on the rally later in the inning with a three-run blast of his own.
Karson Milbrandt got the start and allowed two runs in 5 1-3 innings of work. Evan Taylor (1-0) picked up the win with 1 2-3 innings of scoreless relief.
In the nightcap, the Sky Carp got the scoring started on a sacrifice fly by Chase Luttrell, but the Kernels scored eight straight runs to put the game away and take a four-to-two lead in the seven-game series.
