Beloit Sky Carp News Release
BELOIT - The only thing missing for fans of the Beloit Sky Carp Friday night was a victory.
On an idyllic evening with clear skies overhead and temperatures in the low 80's, the Sky Carp and South Bend battled back and forth all evening before the Cubs ultimately came away with an 8-5 win.
The appreciative crowd of 3,012 saw a quiet start to the game before both teams got the bats going. Beloit scored in four straight innings, but South Bend plated three runs in the fourth, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh to take the edge.
Jose Salas finished with a pair of hits and a pair of RBI's, while Ynmanol Marinez cracked his ninth home run of the season.
Dax Fulton got the start for Beloit and struck out 10, including the first nine batters, in 5 1-3 innings of work.
Following the game, the team's mascot, Poopsie, was revealed in dramatic fashion to a cheering crowd.
The Sky Carp and Cubs will battle again Saturday night beginning at 6:35 p.m. Gates will open at 5:30. It's another double promotion night at ABC Supply Stadium. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a Sky Carp beach towel. After the game, another fantastic fireworks display will light up the night.
