YORK, Pa. - The Sugar Land Skeeters overcame an early 6-0 deficit, but lost in walk-off fashion to York, 8-7 following a single from Bryan Pounds in the bottom of the ninth. The loss drops the Skeeters to 3-4 in the second half and 39-38 overall while York improves to 2-4 in the latter half and 26-50 on the year.

The 7-8-9 hitters for Sugar Land of Patrick Palmeiro, Renny Osuna and Amadeo Zazueta combined to go 5-11 with three runs and six RBI in the loss.

Skeeters' starter Josh Geer was tagged for six runs in the bottom of the third, leading to a lopsided score early in the contest. Luis De La Cruz drew a walk with one out and Mikey Reynolds reached on an infield single to shortstop. Wilson Valdez followed with an infield single to load the bases. Eric Patterson notched the first base hit to leave the infield on a single to right, breaking the scoreless tie. Geer struggled with his command, hitting Brandon Boggs with a 2-2 offering to bring in the innings second run. Pounds lifted a sacrifice fly to center, increasing York's lead to 3-0 before Nick Ferdinand hit a three-run home run, sending the Skeeters to an early deficit.

Every time the Revolution pushed across a run, Sugar Land responded with a rally of its own. In the top of the fourth, the Skeeters plated four runs to narrow the score. Delwyn Young and Travis Scott knocked back-to-back singles to start the inning before newcomer Allan Dykstra worked a walk to load the bases. Johan Limonta hit a chopper back to Matt Neil on the mound, who cut down Young at the plate on the fielder's choice. Patrick Palmeiro cleared the bases with a two RBI double down the right field line and advanced to third on an error, cutting the score to 6-3. Renny Osuna brought Palmeiro home on an RBI groundout to short, moving the score to 6-4.

York would extend the lead to 7-4 in the top of the fifth on a solo home run from Pounds for the third baseman's second RBI of the night.

The Skeeters answered the Revolutions run in the top of the sixth to tie the game after trailing 6-0. Limonta singled to right with one out before Palmeiro deposited his second double of the night into left to send Limonta to third. Osuna recorded his second-straight RBI groundout, hitting a slow-roller to second to score Limonta and advance Palmeiro to third. Amadeo Zazueta launched his second home run of the season to tie the game and chase Dan Bartlett from the game after entering in the top of the inning.

Relievers Andrew Carpenter, Cory VanAllen and Ramon Delgado combined to keep York off the scoreboard in the sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively, to keep the game tied. In the bottom of the ninth, Robbie Weinhardt issued a walk to Reynolds to open the inning. The Revolution's second baseman was sacrificed to second before an intentional walk to Patterson set up the double play. Weinhardt induced the ground ball he needed off the bat of Boggs, but the Skeeters were unable to turn the double play, only recording a fielder's choice at second to move the game-winning run to third. With runners on the corners, Pounds picked up his third RBI of the game on a single, giving York the walk-off win, 8-7.
