
Skeeters Beat El Paso on Walk-Off Wild Pitch

(SUGAR LAND, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters defeated the El Paso Chihuahuas 4-3 on Thursday night on a walk-off wild pitch in the 10th inning at Constellation Field.
JJ Matijevic started the inning on second base, moved to third on a ground out from Taylor Jones and came across on a wild pitch from El Paso right-hander Parker Markel.
The Skeeters tied the game at 3-3 with two outs in the ninth on an RBI single from Jake Meyers.
Houston Astros infielder Alex Bregman continued his MLB Rehab Assignment with the Skeeters, making his third appearance. Bregman started at third base and went 0-for-2 with a walk.
The Skeeters struck first on the night, scoring in the third inning on a bases loaded walk from Alex De Goti. De Goti added a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
El Paso tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning on an opposite-field solo home run from Nick Tanielu. The Chihuahuas took their momentary lead in the eighth inning as Taylor Kohlwey scored on a wild pitch. Ivan Castillo provided El Paso's first run with an RBI double in the fifth.
Brett Conine got the start for the Skeeters and allowed one run through five innings of work. Ronel Blanco pitched a scoreless 10th inning, including a strikeout, and received the win.
The Skeeters and Chihuahuas continue their six-game set at 7:05 p.m. on Friday at Constellation Field. Right-hander Austin Hansen is scheduled to face left-hander Jerry Keel for El Paso.
