5 Things to Know about #SKCvDAL
Luchi vs. Vermes
FC Dallas head coach Luchi Gonzalez is undefeated against Sporting KC and its head coach Peter Vermes. Gonzalez took over FCD in 2019 and has registered a 4-0-1 record against its conference rivals. On the road, Gonzalez and Dallas have an impressive 2-0-1 against SKC at Children's Mercy Park. Considering that record, this weekend could prove a good opportunity to get Dallas' first road points of 2021.
Ricardo Pepi
Homegrown forward Ricardo Pepi has had a week to remember. Last Saturday, the 18-year-old scored three goals in Dallas' 4-0 win over the LA Galaxy, becoming the youngest player to score a hat trick in MLS history (and was awarded MLS Player of the Week for his effort). Two days later, FC Dallas and Pepi agreed a new five-year contract through 2026.
Szabolcs Schön
Winger Szabolcs Schön earned his first MLS start last Saturday against the Galaxy. The young Hungarian helped create Pepi's third goal of the night to record his first MLS assist. If Schön can continue his productivity at left wing, he could be Dallas' long-term answer at the position.
Against Kansas City
FC Dallas' all-time regular season record against Kansas City is 27-25-13 (105 GF, 94 GA). Dallas' all-time away record against SKC is 11-15-8 (44 GF, 60 GA). FCD is 4-0-1 against SKC under Luchi Gonzalez and the club hasn't lost at Children's Mercy Park since Aug. 19, 2017.
About Kansas City
Sporting KC is currently third place in the Western Conference with 30 points (9-3-3). Top scorers Daniel Salloi (9) and Alan Pulido (6) have scored 15 of the team's 28 goals this season. SKC players Amadou Dia, Gianluca Busio, Felipe Hernandez, Grayson Barber, and Alan Pulido are unavailable for Saturday's match, per the club's Player Availability report.
