
Six run sixth does in Express

The Frisco RoughRiders scored six times in the sixth inning to down the Round Rock Express, 7-2, in front of 9,358 at the Dr Pepper/7 Up Ballpark. Starter James Lira was moving along relatively smoothly through the first five innings. Although the RoughRiders had several chances to score in the the first half of the game, Lira consistently got the big outs that he needed.
Jon Topolski hit his first home run in the fifth to stake the Express to a 2- 0 lead. However, Marshall McDougall tied the game in the fateful sixth and chased Lira. Doubles by Ryan Fleming and Ramon Nivar were the biggest blows of the inning.
Erick Burke kept the Express at bay with 2 1/3 innings of shutout relief.
Tommy Whiteman had a good night, going 3 for 4.
Lira (0-5) took the loss while Edwin Moreno (2-1) was the winner.
The series will conclude Tuesday at 7 p.m.
