
Six-Run Seventh Heavenly in B-Mets 7-3 Win

HARRISBURG, PA- The B-Mets sent ten men to the plate and scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning, seizing control in a 7-3 win over the Harrisburg Senators Friday night at FNB Field. Phillip Evans went 4-for-5, a career-high, and became the sixth different B-Met to record a four-hit game in Binghamton's fifth win in seven games.
Trailing 2-1 with two on and one out in the top of the seventh, Derrik Gibson was summoned to pinch hit. He drove a double to the wall in left-center to tie the game and jump-start a B-Met rally. Champ Stuart followed with a two-run triple to right, putting Binghamton on top. Evans followed with an RBI single and Dominic Smith capped the inning with a two-run double, giving the B-Mets a 7-2 lead.
The B-Mets jumped out to an early lead in the first as Amed Rosario blasted a two-out home run to left-center. Rosario's first career Double-A home run put Binghamton on top, 1-0.
Harrisburg answered in the home half. Andrew Stevenson singled, stole second and took third on a throwing error. A wild pitch later allowed him to score, tying the game at one. The Senators took the lead in the fourth as Isaac Ballou singled, was balked to second, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a passed ball to make it 2-1.
Ricky Knapp (2-0) picked up the win with two runs, one earned, allowed on four hits and six strikeouts over six innings.
The Senators got one more in the eighth inning when Stevenson tripled and scored on a passed ball, cutting the B-Met lead to 7-3.
Evans set a career-high with his four-hit performance. Rosario was 2-for-4 with a homer and Stuart finished 2-for-5 with his first Double-A triple and two RBI.
Game two of the three-game series is set for 6:00 PM on Saturday. RHP Rainy Lara will start for the B-Mets against RHP Tyler Mapes for the Senators. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show can be heard starting at 5:45 PM on News Radio 1290, WNBF and the Binghamton Mets channel on TuneIn.
*POSTGAME NOTES:* Phillip Evans' four-hit performance was the ninth four-hit game by a B-Met this season and the first since Dominic Smith on August 5 against Hartford...Amed Rosario's home run was his first as a B-Met and his first since April 26 with St. Lucie (High-)
