Indianapolis Indians News Release

INDIANAPOLIS -- Home runs by Hunter Owen and Bligh Madris weren't enough as a six-run second inning boosted the St. Paul Saints to a win over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday night, 13-4.

The Saints (59-56) bookended their six-run second inning with home runs by Mark Contreras and Jose Miranda to take an early lead to begin the series. Their four home runs tied the most surrendered by the Indians as a team this season (also: May 5 at Iowa).

Facing an 8-0 deficit in the bottom of the fourth inning, Owen hit his team-leading 17th home run to put the Indians (54-60) on the board.

Damek Tomscha, who went 4-for-5 with four runs scored, homered in the sixth inning to give St. Paul a 9-1 lead. In the bottom half of the frame, Madris matched the effort with his ninth homer of the season to extend his hitting streak to 14 games.

Down 13-2 after a four-run seventh inning, a bases-loaded single by Ethan Paul with two outs in the ninth inning plated an additional pair of runs.

Both of the Indians home runs came against Drew Strotman (W, 9-3) in his quality start. Beau Sulser (L, 6-7) exited the game with two outs in the third inning and was charged with eight runs (seven earned).

Indianapolis and St. Paul will face off again on Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 PM ET. RHP Tanner Anderson (2-3, 3.94) is set to make his third consecutive start with the Indians opposite RHP Beau Burrows (2-5, 6.16).
