Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The Memphis Redbirds are proud to once again partner with the Memphis Grizzlies for "Grizzlies Night" at AutoZone Park this Friday, September 17. The annual tradition will once again feature plenty of action both on and off the field as Memphis' professional sports franchises celebrate together on a Friday night in the Bluff City.
The fun will start in the AutoZone Park entry plaza as fans arriving to the game will be entertained by Grizzline before the Redbirds take on the Louisville Bats (Triple-A affiliate, Cincinnati Reds) at 7:10 p.m. Grizz, the Grizzlies mascot, plus popular entertainment teams the Grizz Girls and Claw Crew will make appearances throughout Friday night's game as well.
Grizzlies forward Yves Pons will get the action started on the field by throwing out the game's ceremonial first pitch. Pons, a member of the starting lineup for the University of Tennessee the past two seasons, signed a contract with the Grizzlies last month. The Fuveau, France, native leaves Tennessee ranked eighth in program history in total blocks (137). Pons was also named to the SEC All-Defensive Team in 2021.
The Redbirds will wear special black and teal jerseys during Friday night's game, patterned after the Grizzlies "throwback" jerseys from this past season. The jerseys will be signed by the Redbirds players after the game and will be up for auction on memphisredbirds.com. Bidding will start on Thursday, September 16 at 5:00 p.m and conclude on Sunday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m. An image of the jersey is attached.
Fans can take advantage of special two-game packages starting at just $30 that include a ticket to Grizzlies Night at AutoZone Park as well as the Grizzlies' Opening Night game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 20th. The special ticket package must be purchased online at milb.com/memphis/tickets/grizzlies-night.
"We're thrilled to once again team up with the Grizzlies for a night of fun at AutoZone Park," Memphis Redbirds President Craig Unger said. "It's a night our fans always look forward to - let's pack the park this week and the arena on Opening Night next month!"
Tickets for the 11 remaining Redbirds home games this season can be purchased at MemphisRedbirds.com/tickets, or by calling 901-721-6000. Tickets for all premium and group areas also remain on sale. All tickets will remain digital; paper tickets will not be issued. AutoZone Park will continue to enforce a clear bag policy and operate as a cashless venue.
