Sioux City Explorers News Release
Sioux City-----Sioux Falls took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run by Jared Bolden as the Pheasants went on to defeat the Explorers at Lewis and Clark Park Tuesday 6-4. It was Bolden's fourth home run of the season and his third against the Explorers. That home run came off X's losing hurler Nick Schumacher (4-1). The Pheasants scored an un-earned run in the second and then increased their lead to 6-0 in the third on a bases loaded double by catcher Al Quintana. The Explorers scored their first run in the fourth inning when Michael Lang led off the inning with a single and scored later on a sacrifice fly to centerfield by Ray Serrano. Sioux City would add their second run in the sixth on a RBI single by Kris Sanchez that scored Lang who had doubled earlier. The final two runs for the Explorers came in the eighth inning on a two-run home run by Lang his fourth of the season and his third hit of the contest. Mark Michael (3-2) pitched six innings to get the win for Sioux Falls and Cody Evans pitched the ninth to get his fourth save of the year. The Explorers and Sioux Falls will continue the series Wednesday at Sioux Falls. Game time will be 7:05. The X's will return home Thursday to start a four-game series with Winnipeg at Lewis and Clark Park.
