Wichita Wingnuts News Release
GARY, IN- The Wichita Wingnuts beat the Gary SouthShore RailCats 1-0 at U.S. Steel Yard on Tuesday night.
Derek Blacksher became the Wingnuts' all-time leader in wins with six and two-thirds shutout innings.
The Wingnuts scored the only run of the game in the top of the third against RailCats' starter Derek Drage. With two outs and no one on base, John Rodriguez lined a single to left-center. C.J. Ziegler then ripped a single down the left field line to put runners on first and second. Mitch Einertson followed with a first-pitch, line drive single to left that brought in Rodriguez just ahead of left fielder Adam Klein's throw to the plate.
Blacksher allowed four hits, walked two, and struck out three in the win. Blacksher stranded the tying run on third base in both the fifth and sixth innings. Blacksher is now 19-6 in his three seasons in Wichita.
