Singleton Launches Fourth Homer in Space Cowboys' Defeat

ROUND ROCK, TX - The Sugar Land Space Cowboys (35-49, 2-7) were held without a hit until the eighth inning in an 11-3 defeat to the Round Rock Express (49-34, 5-4) on Thursday night at Dell Diamond. Highlights of tonight's game can be found here.
Round Rock jumped out to a lead in the first inning on a hit by pitch and a two-run homer by Davis Wendzel. LHP Nick Allgeyer (L, 3-3) gave up just a walk in the second but surrendered three more runs in the third on a three-run homer by Jonathan Ornelas, pushing the Express to a 5-0 lead.
Sugar Land's best scoring chance in the first half of the contest came in the third against LHP Taylor Hearn. César Salazar and Luke Berryhill worked back-to-back walks and Jon Singleton walked with two outs, loading up the bases. However, LHP Jake Latz would induce a force out, stranding three runners and keeping the Space Cowboys off the board.
The Express added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double from Sam Huff and chased Allgeyer in the fifth, ultimately striking for four more runs to open up an 11-0 advantage.
After not recording a hit for the first seven innings, Marty Costes singled the other way after a walk by Berryhill to break up the no-hitter for Sugar Land. Singleton broke up the shutout in the ensuing at bat, launching a three-run homer to right, his fourth of the year with the Space Cowboys.
Sugar Land continue their six-game series with the Express on Friday night. RHP Jairo Solis (1-3, 8.44) is set to toe the slab for the Space Cowboys while Round Rock has not named a starter for a 7:05 pm first pitch. The game can be heard on ESPN 92.5 FM or online here and seen on MiLB.TV.
