Everett Silvertips News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Garrett Pilon (two goals, assist) and Connor Dewar reached the 30-goal plateau while Riley Sutter bagged the eventual game winning goal to help the Everett Silvertips clinch a playoff berth in a 4-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs before 4,469 fans at Spokane Arena on Tuesday in WHL action.

The victory clinched a WHL Playoff berth for the 15th straight season, helping the Silvertips extend the longest current postseason streak in the league. They also increased their lead to nine points with 11 games to play for first place in the U.S. Division. Kevin Davis, named to the starting lineup, became the new all-time leader for games played in Silvertips history, the 336th of his career to surpass Shane Harper.

Carter Hart improved to 24-4-1-3 with 28 saves.

UP NEXT: The Tips continue their three game road trip Friday, visiting the Vancouver Giants in Langley at 7:30pm (1380 AM / FM 95.3 / Tips App). The Tips return home Sunday Feb. 25 against the Spokane Chiefs at 4:05 p.m. Tickets are on sale at www.everettsilvertips.com/ticketcentral.

Hart buoyed the Silvertips with seven saves in the first period on three high grade chances, including a breakaway save on Riley Woods and stopping a re-direction on Jaret Anderson-Dolan.

It took just 31 seconds for the Silvertips to jump on the board in the second period when Pilon tucked a wraparound bid through Dawson Weatherill's five hole. Riley Sutter followed up with a power play goal by deflecting Jake Christiansen's point shot at 12:13.

Pilon then literally batted in his second goal of the night on a six-on-five delayed penalty situation. At the 14:17 mark, Weatherill stopped Ian Walker's point shot but with the rebound flying through the air, Pilon smacked the puck at belt height, past Weatherill from out at the right circle for a 3-0 lead.

Spokane got on the board, their only tally of the night against Carter Hart, at 17:11 when Eli Sumac scored on a toe-drag move from off the rush.

Connor Dewar put the game out of reach with 6:39 left in regulation when he took Pilon's pass and roofed a backhander on a breakaway for his 30th goal of the season.

Spokane's last gasp came on a late power play but Hart and the Tips turned away the opportunity, including a blocker save on Jaret Anderson-Dolan from between the circles.

Weatherill took the loss with 30 saves.
