The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 6-5 on Tuesday night at Prospera Place.

Dillon Dube(28) got things started early for Kelowna scoring just 49 seconds into the first frame. Then at 5:04 Carsen Twarynski extended his team lead in goals roofing a shot on the power play for his 36th. Twarynski(37) collected his second of the period 31 seconds later to give Kelowna a 3-0 cushion. At 10:13 Jackson Leppard(13) responded for the Cougars on a PG power play, but before the 11:00 mark, Liam Kindree(8) restored a three-goal lead for the Rockets. With 5:15 to go in the period Vladislav Mikhalchuk(13) cut Kelowna's lead in half and after a high scoring opening 20 minutes the score was 4-2 Rockets.

Midway through the second Dube(29) got his second of the evening before Erik Gardiner(4) made it 6-2 Rockets two minutes later. The score remained 6-2 through 40 minutes.

In the third Ryan Schoettler(5) began a push for a comeback by cutting into Kelowna's lead at 6:12 before Rhett Rhinehart(1) made it 6-4 at 9:00. Jared Bethune(20) scored shorthanded at 15:54 and the Rockets led by only one. Despite a late push from the Cougars, Kelowna held on for a 6-5 victory.

Brodan Salmond's record improves to 9-8-0-1 after stopping 32 of the 37 shots he faced. Kelowna and Prince George tied 37-37 in shots.

The Rockets enjoyed multi-point evenings from Dillon Dube(2G, 1A), Liam Kindree(1G, 2A), Carsen Twarysnki(2G), and Cal Foote(2A).

Kelowna's record improves to 36-18-4-2.

Join the Rockets on Thursday at Home Depot on Highway 97 to help a few Rockets players in building birdhouses with kids to get prepared for spring. This free event goes from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Collect autographs, take pictures, and hang out with the Rockets.

Kelowna will conclude a four game home stand with a weekend double-header. The Seattle Thunderbirds will be in town to take on the Rockets at Prospera Place on Friday night. The Rockets will then host the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday night. Puck drop for both weekend games is 7:05pm.
