February 21, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
The Medicine Hat Tigers scored two late goals in the third period to defeat the Kootenay ICE 3-1.
Being down 2-1 with just over a minute left to play, ICE goaltender Matt Berlin left the net to give his team the extra attacker. David Quenneville gained possession of the puck and fired it down from the Tigers' end to score his 24th goal of the season and earn his 200th Career WHL Point.
ICE forward Brett Davis opened the scoring in the first period on a short handed partial breakaway.
In the middle frame, Tyler Preziuso intercepted a pass from behind the ICE net and beat Berlin with a backhand shot to tie the game up.
The Orange and Black continued to pressure the ICE offensively looking for the go ahead goal.
With less than five minutes to play in the third period, Mark Rassell and James Hamblin combined to set up linemate Bryan Lockner. Lockner beat Berlin to score his 12th goal of the season and 5th goal in a Tabbies uniform.
Michael Bullion made 19 saves on the 20 shots he faced. Berlin stopped 29 of the Tigers 31 shots.
The Orange and Black are now 30-24-7-0 and will travel to Kootenay for the second game of this home and home series Friday.
