Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips, proud member of the Western Hockey League, and general manager Garry Davidson announced today that the club has signed defenseman Wyatte Wylie (WIGH-lee, WIGH-att) to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.
Wylie, a native of Everett, officially joins the roster as the first WHL Bantam Draft selection in Silvertips history with prior experience competing with Everett Youth Hockey. The 16-year old blueliner was selected by the Silvertips in the sixth round (128th overall) of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.
"We're proud to arrive at a significant day for the Silvertips, the Wylie family and Everett Youth Hockey," said Davidson. "As we've monitored Wyatte's progress, it's exciting to add a prospect like him to our organization but it's even more gratifying to understand that Wyatte's interest in playing hockey can be traced to hometown roots here in Snohomish County. He's earned this opportunity and he is a testimony to Everett Youth Hockey and the Junior Silvertips program, and their objectives for development of local youth players."
The 6-foot, 192-pound defenseman registered 11 points (4g-7a) in 32 games along with 12 penalty minutes with the Dallas Stars Under-16 club this season, additionally ranking tied for second in club playoff scoring with three points (all assists) in four games.
As an alternate captain previously with the Junior Silvertips program, Wylie posted 67 points (19g-48a) in 84 career games in the Midget ranks, adding to 10 points (2g-8a) in 20 games last season in North American Prospects Hockey League competition with Everett.
"This is a great moment to sign with the Silvertips, the team I grew up watching in this region," said Wyllie. "The WHL represents top end talent for its age group and opens a lot of doors to the professional ranks. My hope is that I can continue to work hard to become a solid contributor with the Silvertips in the future."
Wylie will continue skating with the Stars Under-16 program.
