Cranbrook, B.C. - The Brandon Wheat Kings snapped a 2-game losing streak Wednesday night in Cranbrook.

Nolan Patrick's third period goal, which extended his goal scoring streak to a Western Hockey League season high eleven games, snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted Brandon to a 4-2 victory over the hometown Kootenay Ice.

The win moved Brandon to within one point of the Eastern Conference leading Lethbridge Hurricanes, who they will meet on Friday night in game four of their 5-game road trip through Saskatchewan, B.C. and Alberta.

John Quenneville, Kale Clague and James Shearer rounded out the scoring for the Wheat Kings, who outshot the Ice 40-15 and improved their record to 38-18-3-2 on the season.

Jayce Hawryluk meanwhile had two assists to surpass the 250th point plateau in his 4-year WHL career.

"Our bench was good, our mindset was good, I thought our focus was good and I liked a lot of things about our game tonight," Brandon coach and general manager Kelly McCrimmon told CKLQ's Bruce Luebke following the game. "It was good to get a win on the road, and good to get a win period...I think the guys played well tonight and were full marks for the win."

The Wheat Kings, who will close out this trip with a date against the Tigers in Medicine Hat on Saturday night, enter the weekend with a seven point advantage on second place Prince Albert in the Eastern Division.

Brandon returns home next week for games against Saskatoon and Moose Jaw on Wednesday and Friday nights respectively.

Wednesday is the second and final Rain Check game of the season so western Manitoba hockey fans can turn in any unused Wheat King ticket (from December 27th 2015 to February 19th 2016) at the Keystone Centre box office for a "free" ticket to this game.

Next Wednesday's game will be a presentation of the Brandon University Bobcats, Hosts of the 2016 CIS National Womens Volleyball Championships at the Healthy Living Centre.
