Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders are pleased to announce the return of two marquee events to the Ches Leach Lounge at the Art Hauser Centre.

On Tuesday, March 22, the Raiders will partner with Special Olympics Saskatchewan for the Scotiabank Training for Life Power Breakfast. The 11th annual breakfast will feature 10-time Canadian Paralympian Colette Bourgonje. Bourgonje competed in seven Winter Paralympic and three Summer Paralympic Games where she combined to win 10 medals (three silver and seven bronze).

At the Vancouver 2010 Paralympics, Bourgonje put her name in the history books as the first-ever Canadian to win a Paralympic medal on home soil after she claimed a silver medal in the women's 10-kilometre sit-ski event. At the closing ceremony for Vancouver 2010, she received the prestigious Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award, which recognizes individuals who conquer adversities through the pursuit of excellence in sport.

Bourgonje was the first graduate of the University of Saskatchewan's physical education department who used a wheelchair. She acquired a teaching certificate and now works as an elementary school teacher in Prince Albert.

Tickets to the Scotiabank Training for Life Power Breakfast are available by contacting the Raider Office at 306-764-GAME. Tables of eight are on sale for $225, while individual tickets are available for $35. Proceeds will support Special Olympics Saskatchewan and the Raiders Education Fund.

The Raiders will hold another popular event on Friday, April 22, with the Fifth Annual Warren Harper Memorial Father Daughter Gala. Named in honour of former Raider Warren Harper, who lost his battle with cancer in 2014, the Father Daughter Gala includes an evening of entertainment, a buffet meal, and silent auction.

Lisa Dutton of Global Saskatoon and her father Jim, will return to host the evening's festivities for the first time since the inaugural Father Daughter Gala in 2012. Entertainment will be provided by specialty show band Bella Rouge from Edmonton.

Tickets to the Fifth Annual Warren Harper Memorial Father Daughter Gala go on sale on Monday, February 29 at the Raider Office at the Art Hauser Centre. Tickets for a father and daughter are $135, while additional daughter tickets can be purchased for $65. Tickets include flowers for the daughters and a professional picture of each father and daughter. Proceeds will support the Heart And Stroke Foundation Of Saskatchewan and the Raiders Education Fund.
