Everett Silvertips News Release
SASKATOON - Dustin Wolf recorded 23 saves for his fifth career shutout and the Everett Silvertips used three different goal scorers en route to a 3-0 victory over the Saskatoon Blades before 3,029 fans on Wednesday at SaskTel Centre in WHL action.
Akash Bains, Dawson Butt, and an empty netter by Riley Sutter sealed up the Tips seventh straight victory over Saskatoon, in their first game against Tips alumnus and former assistant coach Mitch Love, serving as new head coach of the Blades. The Tips improved to 3-2-0-0 in their seven game road trip.
UP NEXT: The Silvertips continue their seven-game trip at Mosaic Place, against the host Moose Jaw Warriors at 6:00 p.m. PT (1380 AM / 95.3 FM / Tips App / WHL Live). The Tips return home after a seven-game road trip on Friday, Nov. 2 against the Tri-City Americans at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are on sale at www.everettsilvertips.com/tickets.
With the Tips on a power play, Reece Vitelli feathered a pass from the circle to the crease where a rebound found the tape of Akash Bains, who stashed his second goal of the year for a 1-0 lead with 6:39 left in the first period.
Wolf began to build his complete body of work with a pair of impressive saves in the second period, including back to back saves on Kristian Roykas-Martinsen and Dawson Davidson to keep the 1-0 lead intact.
Dawson Butt delivered a 2-0 lead early in the third period when he took Luke Ormsby's pass down the right boards, muscled past Aidan De La Gorgendiere and converted a sharp angled wrist shot with 1:54 gone.
The Tips killed a four-minute double minor on a Sahvan Khaira high sticking penalty and sealed the game on Riley Sutter's empty netter with 1:03 left, set up by Bryce Kindopp's pass after Sean Richards cleared the puck.
Nolan Meier, opposite of Wolf, took the loss on 28 saves.
