Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Cranbrook, B.C. - The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped their third game in a row Wednesday night, losing 4-3 in overtime to the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook.

The game was the second of a season high 7-game road trip for the Wheat Kings, who lost 2-1 in Lethbridge on Tuesday.

Former Wheat King Jaeger White paced the Ice with two goals and an assist while Brandon got goals from three different shooters - forward Marcus Sekundiak and defencemen Chase Hartje and Zach Wytinck.

For all three Wheat Kings, Wednesday's goals were their first of the season and for Wytinck, it gave Brandon a shortlived 3-2 third period advantage.

Jonathon Smart and Peyton Krebs - with the overtime breakaway winner - rounded out the scoring for the Ice, who snapped a 6-game losing streak with the win.

With the loss, Brandon's record slipped to 6-2-3-1 and has gone 1-2-2-1 in its last six games.

The two teams traded four goals in the first and were scoreless in the second.

Brandon finished the night 1-5 on the man advantage while managing to kill off seven of eight Kootenay powerplays.

The Wheat Kings will now travel to Vancouver Island for the first of five games against B.C. Division clubs.

Brandon will face the Royals in Victoria on Saturday night, before taking on Glen Hanlon's Vancouver Giants on Sunday.

The Wheat Kings will close out their 7-game road trip with games on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights against Prince George, Kamloops and Kelowna respectively.

Brandon's next home game is two weeks from this Friday, November 9th, when the Red Deer Rebels invade Westoba Place.

Tickets to all remaining home games are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling (204) 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
