Silvertips Rebound in 6-1 Trouncing of Seattle on Local Heroes Night

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips' blueliners showed out offensively and led the Tips to a 6-1 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds Saturday night at Angel of the Winds Arena.
The Silvertips got on the board with a powerplay goal at 7:55 in the first as Dominik Rymon fed defender Tarin Smith at the point, who wired a wrist shot past Thunderbirds netminder Grayson Malinoski. Shea Busch then scored 1:01 later, retrieving a Lukas Kaplan shot off the endboards and converting a wraparound for his seventh goal of the season.
Carter Bear fired a wrist shot between the legs of Malinoski to make it a 3-goal game at 14:53 in the first.
Smith scored his second powerplay goal of the night 10:50 into the middle frame, capitalizing on a rush for his 11th tally of the season.
Seattle's Matej Pekar was finally able to break through Sanche in the third period, jamming the puck into the right side of the goal off a netmouth scramble at 3:13 to get the Thunderbirds on the board.
Hammell responded with a sharp-angle shot from the right corner boards at 6:04 for his ninth goal of the season. Jesse Heslop scored the Silvertips' third powerplay goal of the game with a one-timer from the right circle at 13:48 for a final score of 6-1.
The Tips defensemen led the scoring for the night as Tarin Smith finished with two goals and two assists while Kaden Hammell had one goal and two assists.
Jesse Sanche made 32 of 33 saves on the night in the win, his 16th. Grayson Malinoski turned aside 41 of the Silvertips' 47 shots on goal.
The game was a sell-out at Angel of the Winds Arena, the third capacity crowd of the season.
