Shorthanded Thunder Take Weekend Sweep

THUNDER HOLD OFF SCORPIONS- The Thunder jumped out to a 4-0 lead then held on for a 4-3 victory on Friday night. Veteran Adam Calder led the way for the Thunder with a pair of goals just 18 seconds apart. Trevor Allman and Anders Strome assisted on both goals, as eight different Thunder players picked up a point. Rookie goaltender Matt Carney picked up his second win, despite allowing three third period goals by New Mexico's Peter Ambroziak.

THUNDER RALLY PAST GORILLAS- Adam Calder and Trevor Allman scored late third period goals, leading the Thunder to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Amarillo. Veteran Mark Kolesar led the Thunder with a goal and an assist, giving goaltender Mark Gowan his first victory of the season. Eight different players picked up a point, as the Thunder played shorthanded by two skaters for the second straight night.

HOT START FOR THUNDER- After two weeks, the Thunder find themselves just one point behind Tulsa for first place in the CHL Northwest Division. Wichita has won three straight games, already matching last season's longest winning streak. With a record of 3-1-0, the Thunder have also already recorded their best October record since the 1997-98 season.

THUNDER ADD ANOTHER DEFENSEMAN- Les Hrapchak, another young defenseman from the ECHL, joined the Thunder this morning and will make his debut this weekend. A physical, offensive defenseman, Hrapchak recorded 74 points in four seasons at Sacred Heart University. He also played one game this season with the ECHL's Dayton Bombers. Injured Defenseman Chad Mazurak hopes to return to the Thunder lineup this weekend.

CANDY AND CARS AT THE COLISEUM- All fans in costume this Friday, Halloween Night, will receive candy courtesy of Sam's Club West. The Thunder will hold their first ever car show on Saturday, sponsored by O'Reilly Auto Parts and Downey's Auto Upholstery. Over 50 cars have been entered so far and the winning entries will be driven on the ice during the intermission.

THUNDERBOLTS- Veteran Jason Duda extended his streak of games played to 216...The Thunder rank second in the CHL in penalty killing at an impressive 95.0%...The Thunder rank second in fewest shots allowed, at just 25.5 per game...The Thunder are outshooting their opponents 127-102 for the first time since the 1998-99 season...The Thunder are 3-0 in one-goal games...Wichita leads the CHL with 10 major penalties and rookie Ryan Olynyk leads the CHL with four...Adam Calder leads the CHL with 27 shots on goals.
