Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

This September 11th, Your Delmarva Shorebirds invite you and your family to join us at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium to help honor and remember the fallen heroes we lost during the events of September 11, 2001 and the days that followed. As we unite as a community on this 5-year Anniversary, it will also be a day to celebrate our country's freedoms and the men & women around the globe that protect us and ensure that this will always be the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

The Red Knights Motorcycle Club Maryland Chapter 3 is the driving force behind the day's activities, which all starts with the dedication of an Ocean City Firefighters Memorial at 8:30am on the Boardwalk and North Division Street in Ocean City. This will be followed by the 2nd Annual Parade of Brothers ride on the Boardwalk at 11am and the 9-11 Remembrance Service at 12 noon back at the Boardwalk and North Division Street. At 12:30pm there will be a luncheon at Jimi's 9th Street Grill in Ocean City, followed by a no-fee Ride from Ocean City to Perdue Stadium. The ride departs from 9th Street at 2:30pm and is open to everyone!

The Remembrance Celebration will move to Salisbury at 4pm with an event open to the entire public at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. The evening's activities include a Ride in Bike & Custom Car/Hot Rod Show. The Ride in Car Show will be hosted by The Wheels that Heal Car Club and The OC Cruzers Car Club, which will take place in the parking lot. The custom bike show, taking place inside Perdue Stadium, will have trophies being awarded and provided by Harley-Davidson of Ocean City. There will also be continuous family entertainment all night long, with FREE amusement rides for kids. At 7:30pm, Remembrance Speakers will take the stage, including military personnel and survivors from the 9-11 tragedy in NYC. Immediately following these guests will be a live performance from local musical stars Opposite Directions and Randy Lee Ashcraft and the Salt Water Cowboys at 8pm. The night will be capped off at 10pm in grand fashion with a 9-11 Fireworks Spectacular high above the skies of Arthur W. Perdue Stadium!

Gates open at 4pm for all of the activity at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and admission is only $6. For just $20 you can enjoy a two-hour hearty All-American Buffet from 5pm-7pm. The menu for this deliciously patriotic meal includes your ticket to the event, hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled chicken BBQ, cole slaw, potato chips, watermelon, popcorn, lemonade, iced tea, and soda! For only $11 you can get our fan-favorite Pepsi Value Meal that includes a ticket to the event and your choice of a hot dog or hamburger to go along with fries and a Pepsi.

Proceeds from all ticket sales at Perdue Stadium will go to benefit the Michael McMullen Scholarship Fund at Wor-Wic Community College. Michael was a Salisbury Fire Fighter who tragically and heroically lost his life while fighting for our freedom in Iraq. Michael's family and military unit will be on hand at Perdue Stadium during the day to participate in all the Remembrance Celebration activities.

Helping to promote and lend their support to this worthy community cause will be Clear Channel Radio of Delmarva and their family of stations, including Froggy 99.9, Q105-FM, 96 Rock, KISS-FM and The Wave.
