CHARLESTON, SC - The New York Yankees announced Monday that All-Star infielder Reegie Corona was promoted to Double-A Trenton of the Eastern League. Right-handed pitcher Paul Patterson has been promoted to the RiverDogs from the Staten Island Yankees of the New York-Penn League.

Corona, who started the season as a utility infielder but quickly worked his way in to the everyday line-up and at one point led the league in batting average, will join the first-place Trenton Thunder as they move closer to postseason play in the Eastern League.

With Charleston this season, Corona was batting .292 with 13 doubles, 26 stolen bases, 40 runs batted in and three home runs. He appeared in 96 games primarily at second base, but he also started at first base, third base, shortstop and left field.

The native of Caracas, Venezuela had a RiverDogs' season-high hitting streak of 11 games from May 22-June 24. Corona also recorded a team high six hits during the RiverDogs' 18 inning game against the Rome Braves on May 20. Additionally, the 19 year-old swiped four bases June 22 at Rome, which ties for a team best this season.

Corona had a total of 29 multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games. After earning a permanent spot in the starting line-up in mid-April, the infielder sat among the league leaders in batting average for much of June and July.

Patterson, a 16th round selection by the Yankees this June, joins the RiverDogs from the Staten Island Yankees of the NY-Penn League. With Staten Island Patterson was 3-0 with one save and 3.48 ERA in 31 innings of work. Patterson appeared in 15 games, including two starts, while walking nine and striking out 16.

Drafted by the Yankees following his senior season at Northern Kentucky, Patterson went 5-4 with a 1.92 ERA as he helped the Norse capture the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament championship and earn a spot in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Patterson allowed just 54 hits in 79.2 innings pitched this season. The 22-year-old native of Nicholasville, KY was originally drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 44th round in 2005 following his junior season.
