PREVIEW: The Shorebirds could not complete the sweep against the Lakewood BlueClaws, losing 6-2 in the finale. A four-run sixth inning pushed Lakewood over the top, as Luc Rennie could not keep his strong start rolling. With the loss, Delmarva is back to .500 in the second half as they now host the West Virginia Power.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Buddy Borden will start the series opener for the West Virginia Power. Borden has gone 3-6 with a 3.82 ERA for the Power thus far in 2014. The right-hander has started twice against Delmarva, with a victory on May 20th. However, his last outing vs. the Shorebirds was an abbreviated one, allowing three runs on four hits in just one inning. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Borden in the 7th round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of UNLV.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles won the rubber match with the Boston Red Sox on Sunday, 7-6 in 12 innings. Boston scored five runs in the seventh inning to tie the game, but the O's shook off the blown lead for a win in extras. Baltimore is now 48-40, leading the AL East by 2 games over the Blue Jays. The O's now play an interleague series vs. the Washington Nationals.

THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

WHO'S HOT/WHO ELSE

DREW DOSCH | 3B

The Shorebirds' All- Star third baseman has started the second half well. In back-to-back games in Hagerstown, Dosch delivered a 9th inning RBI base hit for a key insurance run. Dosch is currently batting .309, just outside the top 10 in the SAL. Dosch is currently 2nd in the league with 100 hits, behind Wilmer Difo (109, HAG).

WHO'S HOT - CONOR BIERFELDT

The Shorebirds outfielder & designated hit- ter went 3-for-4 on Thursday night. In the three games at Kannapolis, Bierfeldt hit four doubles and three RBIs. Bierfeldt is now 2nd on the team with 20 doubles, behind Kemp.

WHO ELSE - CHANCE SISCO

Since the All-Star Break, Chance Sisco has been otherworldly. The Shorebirds catcher is batting .433 (29-for-67) in 17 games in the second half. Sisco is now 1st in the SAL with a .344 batting average.
