Balanced Attack Leads Suns Past Claws 8-4

HAGERSTOWN, MD - Every Hagerstown starter had a hit as the Suns, who scored four times in the first inning, topped the BlueClaws 8-4 on Monday night at Municipal Stadium.

Rafael Bautista, Hagerstown's lead-off hitter, led the way reaching four times, on two hits and two walks, scoring three times while Drew Ward was 2-5 driving in three.

With the win, Hagerstown (12-7/56-33) improved to 13-4 against the BlueClaws (6-13/33-55) on the season.

Hagerstown scored four times in the first inning to take a lead they would not give back. Ranfi Casimiro walked two of the first three hitters to load the bases and an RBI single by Spencer Kieboom tied the game at 1. Drew Ward followed with a 2-run single to make it 3-1. A two-out single by Jimmy Yezzo made it 4-1.

Casimiro, who gave up another run in the second inning on a solo HR by Cody Dent, came out after two reached in the fourth inning. He was charged with six runs in three innings (plus two batters) allowing 10 hits while walking three and striking out one.

The Suns added two runs in the 5th inning off Will Morris on a two-run single by Isaac Ballou.

Dylan Cozens and Larry Greene Jr. each had three hits for the BlueClaws. Malquin Canelo had two including an RBI single in the second inning. Mitch Walding had a hit and drew two walks and Andrew Knapp went 2-5.

Hagerstown reliever Andrew Cooper (6-2) threw three scoreless innings to earn the win. He came on after starter Lucas Giolito came out after four innings, allowing four runs/three earned.

The series continues on Tuesday night at 7:05. RHP Tyler Viza throws for Lakewood opposite RHP Jake Johansen.
