Charleston Dirty Birds News Release

Charleston, WV - July 7, 2014 - The South Atlantic League has announced its Player-of-the-Week for the period of June 30 through July 6 and West Virginia Power infielder JaCoby Jones was honored for his efforts during that time span. Jones, a Pittsburgh Pirates third round draft choice in 2013, batted .500 over six games with five home runs and seven runs batted in.

The Power shortstop was placed on the disabled list on June 21 and missed a week with a knee injury. In his first game back, he was hit in the head by a pitch and missed two more days. Jones has now hit safely in eight straight games, including two prior to the disabled list stint. During his last six games, the LSU-product had 12 hits in 24 at bats and scored seven runs.

On Sunday, July 6, Jones became the first Power batter to hit two home runs in a single game this season.

Jones is the first West Virginia player to be honored by the league at any point this year. For more information, contact the Power front office at (304) 344-2287 or visit www.wvpower.com.
