Greenville Drive News Release

Charleston, SC - The remarkable string of bad luck for the Greenville Drive (3-16, 37-51) continued on Monday night, as the Charleston RiverDogs (6-13, 39-50) walked off with a 4-3 victory in the bottom of the ninth.

With the score tied at three, Gosuke Katoh drew a one-out walk and moved to third on Michael O'Neill's single. Katoh was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice grounder back to Jacob Dahlstrand (4-5), but Dustin Fowler followed with a single to left to O'Neill for the winning run.

Dahlstrand was saddled with the loss despite doing yeoman's work in relief of Myles Smith, allowing just one run and five hits in four innings with five strikeouts. Evan Rutckyj (2-0) received the win after throwing a scoreless top half of the ninth.

Charleston got on the board first in the bottom of the second when Reymond Nunez smacked a two-run double to right against Smith.

Greenville scored all three of their runs on the night in the fourth. Cole Sturgeon, playing in his first game with the Drive, hit an infield single to begin the frame against RiverDogs starter Brady Lail. After a walk to Jimmy Rider and a groundout, Carlos Asuaje lined a single to center to plate Sturgeon. Jake Romanski followed with an RBI groundout to tie the game, and Manuel Margot ripped a run-scoring single to center to make the score 3-2.

Tyler Wade knotted things up at three in the bottom half of the fifth with an RBI double to right to score Nunez, who walked.

O'Neill, Wade and Mark Payton all collected a pair of hits for Charleston. Asuaje was the lone Greenville batter with a two-hit night.

The division rivals will meet again on Tuesday night in Charleston at 7:05. LH Daniel McGrath (3-4, 3.33) takes the hill for the Drive, while LH Caleb Smith (4-7, 3.61) will start for the RiverDogs.
