SIX RBIs FOR SCHUTZ: Kipp Schutz set a new personal high for RBIs in a single game with six on Sunday. His previous high was five, set on July 20, 2010 against the Tri-City ValleyCats. Sunday afternoon, Schutz hit a two-run double, a three-run home run and an RBI single. The Shorebirds had only one six RBI game all of last season (Tyler Townsend, July 21 vs. Hickory).

POPE GOES YARD: Kieron Pope hit his first home run of the season on Sunday afternoon. He also notched two doubles to post a 3-for-4 day. Pope now has 29 career minor league home runs, most on the Shorebirds roster.

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE: Through four games, the Shorebirds are tied for the league lead in walks with 22. The Greenville Drive (Boston) have also drawn 22 walks. Manny Machado (6) and Brian Conley (5) have combined for 11 of the 22 walks. The Shorebirds drew 11 walks in game two of the doubleheader against Greensboro on Saturday night.

GURKA FANS 10 IN 3.2: Left-handed reliever Jason Gurka struck out ten batters in 3.2 innings in game two of the doubleheader. The ten strikeouts are a new career high for Gurka, whose previous high water mark was only five. Gurka entered in the fifth inning with the bases loaded and just one out and proceeded to strike out both hitters he faced. The Chappell, Texas native struck out the side in the seventh inning.

FORMER SHOREBIRDS YOUNGER BRO: The younger brother of former Shorebirds relief pitcher, Brandon Conney, pitches for the Kannapolis Intimidators. Chase Cooney was a 33rd round pick in the 2009 draft for the Chicago White Sox. Chase is listed at 6'8" tall and 245 pounds. Brandon pitched very well in Delmarva back in 2009. He posted a 2-5 record with a 2.68 ERA in 38 appearances. Brandon also notched 16 saves in 19 opportunities. He is currently pitching for the BaySox. Chase threw 2.2 scoreless innings in his first relief outing on April 10.
