Braves Get First Win of the Season

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves won their first game of the year defeating the Augusta GreenJackets 7-3 Monday night in front of 1,775 fans at State Mutual Stadium. This was the first game of a four game series between the two teams.

Rome posted two runs in the first inning on an RBI triple by Christian Bethancourt and a sacrifice fly by David Rohm. The Braves added four more runs in the second as Jakob Dalfonso tripled and scored on a sacrificed fly by Ramon Flores. Barrett Kleinknecht then connected on his first home run of the season giving the Braves a 4-0 lead. Keenan Wiley singled, stole second and later scored on a throwing error. Beathancort picked up his second RBI with a run scoring double to give the Braves a 6-0 advantage.

Augusta scored in the third on a ground out by Carlos Willoughby and again in the fourth on a solo homerun by Josh Mazzola. The Braves added a single run in the fifth on a Bethancourt solo homerun to make the score 7-2. Bethancourt had 3 RBI on the night. The GreenJackets added a run in the ninth but reliever Ryan Weber held them the rest of the way.

David Filak (1-0) picks up his first win of the season, while Taylor Rogers (0-1) gets the loss for Augusta. Weber picks up his first save.

Rome continues their series with Augusta starting tomorrow at 7pm. It's KRAFT 2 for 1 ticket night. Fans presenting KRAFT singles wrappers get two tickets for the price of one.
