Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Lakewood BlueClaws Manager Chris Truby juggled with his Starting Lineup Monday night, and it worked to perfection. A day after the Blueclaws scored just 1 run in 23 innings in their doublheader against Kannapolis, they scored 1 run in each of the first 2 innings against Greensboro on Monday. Starting Pitcher Colby Shreve and relievers Tyler Knigge and Eric Pettis combined to allow just 4 hits and 1 run as Lakewood won their second straight series opener to begin the 2011 season.

Left Fielder Zach Collier was moved up to the leadoff spot in the Lakewood lineup and started off the game for the BlueClaws with a double down the LF line. Collier scored later in the inning on Jeremy Barnes Sacrifice Fly to LF. CF Aaron Altherr was bumped down to the 5th spot in the BlueClaws lineup and responded with his first hit of the season, a double to lead off the second inning, and scored his first run as a BlueClaw.

The only run allowed by BlueClaws pitching was an unearned run in the 3rd inning. BlueClaws starters have allowed just 1 Earned Run so far on the season in 22 2/3rd's innings, good for an ERA on 0.40. The BlueClaws team ERA is a miniscule 0.66.

Lakewood improves to 2-2 on the season, and Greensboro falls to 1-4. Tomorrow it will be LHP Ervis Manzanillo getting his first start for the BlueClaws, and RHP Kyle Winters (0-1, 3.00 ERA) will make his second start for the Grasshoppers. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm, and the first 2,000 fans will receive a 2011 BlueClaws Schedule Magnet.
