BlueClaws to Host Hope4Heroes Charity Baseball Game

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws will host a Hope4Heroes charity baseball game at FirstEnergy Park on Friday, June 17th which will include Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry.

Players, which will include members of the military and former Major Leaguers like Jay Johnstone and Bob Boone will put on an entertaining show and raise money for military families. Lakewood is one stop on a tour that also includes Tuscon, San Antonio, and Las Vegas.

Fans can get autographs from the players before and during the game.

Brian Kilmead of Fox News will also be at the game to throw out a ceremonial first pitch with retired two-star General Alfred Valenzuela.

Tickets for the event are just $10 and all seating is general admission. The gates will open at 5 pm with the game starting at 7 pm. Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at 10 am by calling 732-901-7000 option 2 or online at BlueClaws.com.

Perry won 314 games in a 22 year career that included time with the Giants, Indians, Rangers, Padres, Yankees, Braves, Mariners, and Royals. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.

Boone was a three-time all-star with the Phillies (four overall) and a member of the Phillies 1980 World Series Championship team.

Johnstone, an outfielder who played with eight teams including the Phillies, had a 20-year major league career which included a home run to help the Dodgers beat the Yankees in game four of the 1981 World Series.

Hope4Heroes was founded by Veterans to support Veterans and families in the following program areas for 2011: Awareness events in local communities, Scholarships for kids and spouses of fallen and wounded heroes, Jobs and small business training programs for veterans and families, and partner relationships with companies hiring veterans and families or franchise a business programs empowering our veterans and families.
