STAT OF THE NIGHT: David Walters locked up his 24th save of the season last night by tossing a scoreless ninth inning. He is now tied with Ryan Kohlmeier (1997) for fifth all-time in single-season franchise history. Derek Brown (1998) holds the single-season record with 33 saves. Walters is one save shy of tying Rommie Lewis (25, 2002) for fourth all-time.

PREVIEW: The Shorebirds scored five unanswered runs between the second and third innings to defeat the Suns 5-4 in game one of the series. The Shorebirds have not opened a series with back-to-back wins since defeating West Virginia on June 5 and 6. The Shorebirds remain eight games out of first place with 37 games remaining in the season.

FIRST STARTER TO WIN SINCE...Jarret Martin became the first Shorebirds starter to win since July 14 when David Baker beat Asheville. Shorebirds starters were 0-5 with six no-decision in 11 starts between the wins. Starters have not won back-to-back games since June 29 (Jarret Martin) and June 30 (Luis Noel).

VETERAN NOEL: Last night, Luis Noel made his 56th career appearance for the Shorebirds. He has 112 total minor league appearances over his six seasons for the Orioles. Noel is the most veteran pitcher on the Shorebirds staff.

6TH IN SAL: Ty Kelly's .306 batting average ranks sixth in the SAL. Kelly is hitless in his last three games (nine at-bats). He has still reached base in nine straight games.

15 0F 18: Joe Oliveira connected on an RBI double last night, his 15th game with at least one hit. Oliveira has only appeared in 18 games.

FINAL 37 VS. NORTH: The Shorebirds final 37 games are all against teams in the Northern Division. The Shorebirds have seven more games against Hagerstown, 12 more against Lakewood, four against Kannapolis, five against Greensboro and nine against West Virginia.
