Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws fell 11-5 on Friday night to the West Viriginia Power in game 2 of the 4 game series. Lakewood committed 3 errors in the game, and the Power out hit the BlueClaws 15-10 as well. It was actually a tie ballgame at 4-4 after 4 ½ innings, but West Virginia scored 7 times total in innings 5-8 to blow it open and win it running away.

Neither starting pitcher factored in the decision with the bullpen factoring greatly in the outcome. BlueClaws starter RHP Lisalberto Bonilla went 5 innings and allowed 5 runs/4 earned on 8 hits leaving with the game tied. Bonilla only struck out 1 and allowed 2 HR's however. Mario Hollands got the loss for Lakewood allowing 2 runs in 1 IP. Chase Johnson got roughed up also allowing 4 runs on 5 hits in the final 2 innings.

Cameron Rupp continues to hit well as he hit his 3rd HR of the year, and Jim Murphy also went deep for his 21st HR this season. Murphy is now just 1 HR away from tying Juan Richardson for the most HR's in a season in Lakewood franchise history. Richardson hit 22 in the BlueClaws inaugural season back in 2001. Domingo Santana had a nice game going 2-4 with a double, 2 runs scored, and his 4th stolen base of the year. Left Fielder Andy Vasquez powered West Virginia going 4-5 with a HR, 3 runs scored, and 2 RBI out of the #2 spot in the lineup.

Game 3 of the 4 game series will be Saturday night. Two lefties will start with Ervis Manazanillo (7-5, 4.79 ERA) going for Lakewood, and Zach Fuesser (2-4, 3.00 ERA) starting for the Power. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm on Saturday.
