The West Virginia Power beat the Lakewood BlueClaws 11-5 Friday evening at Appalachian Power Park. The Power bats put up double digit runs for the second straight game to pick their fourth straight victory.

The Power picked up a 2-0 lead in the first two innings with solo home runs. Andy Vasquez drove a ball over the right field wall in the first inning and Dan Grovatt added a solo shot in the second inning.

The BlueClaws cut the lead in half with a solo home run of their own. Cameron Rupp shot a ball over the left field wall to move the score to 2-1.

Vasquez led off the third inning with a single and advanced to third on a double by Mel Rojas Jr. Vasquez scored on a single by Justin Howard, and Rojas Jr. came across on a ground out boosting the Power lead to 4-1.

Lakewood matched West Virginia's two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Jim Murphy led off win a home run and then Domingo Santana scored on a throwing error cutting the Power lead to 4-3.

Carlos Perdomo scored in the fifth inning on an infield single by Zach Collier tying the game at 4-4.

The Power took the lead back with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Justin Howard doubled into right centerfield and scored on a sacrifice fly from Elias Diaz putting West Virginia back ahead 5-4.

The BlueClaws evened the game again with a run in the top of the sixth inning. Domingo Santana scored on a sacrifice fly by Perdomo leveling the count 5-5.

The Power took the lead in the bottom half of the sixth inning and never looked back from there. Two runs in the sixth inning scored by Eric Avila and Vasquez put West Virginia up 7-5.

The Power offense tallied four more runs in the eighth inning. Avila led off with a single and scored on a Drew Maggi single. Maggi came across on a single by Vasquez. Rojas Jr. drew a walk and scored on a double into the left centerfield gap by Howard. Howard scored the eleventh Power run on a single up the middle by Cole White producing a score of 11-5.

Justin Ennis (2-1) picked up the win for West Virginia. Ennis only pitched one third of an inning retiring Miguel Alvarez on a groundout. Ennis, however, was the pitcher of record when the Power took the lead in the sixth.

The Power used six pitchers in the game with Eliecer Navarro throwing four innings as West Virginia's starter. He was followed by Colton Cain, Ennis, Porforio Lopez, Jason Townsend and Rinku Singh pitched the ninth to close the 11-5 Power win.

The Power and BlueClaws and get back to action tomorrow evening with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch at Appalachian Power Park. In a battle of two southpaws, Zac Fuesser will go for the Power against Ervis Manzanillo for the BlueClaws. Saturday evening will feature a jersey giveaway at the ballpark where the first 1,000 fans will receive a Ryan Braun Power jersey.
