STAT OF NIGHT: Riley Hornback stole two bases last night in the second inning. He is the first player since July 23 to have multiple stolen bases in the same game. Brenden Webb had two steals against Hickory.

PREVIEW: Game three followed a similar script to game two as the Shorebirds scored early but Kannapolis responded with six eight unanswered runs to take game three 8-3. In game two, the Shorebirds had a 5-1 lead until Kannapolis scored 13 unanswered runs to win 14-6. With 27 games remaining, the Shorebirds are 9.5 games back of first place Kannapolis.

FIRST INNING RUNS: The Shorebirds used a Jacob Julius triple to plate two runs in the first inning last night. It was the first time since July 22 that the Shorebirds scored in the first inning. They went 14 straight games without a first inning run.

TOUGH SERIES FOR PEN: In nine bullpen innings during the three game series, the Shorebirds bullpen has allowed 16 hits and 12 earned runs.

CAM ROTH THROWS THREE SCORELESS: Cam Roth tossed three scoreless innings of relief last night. He used double plays to navigate the fifth and seventh innings. His ERA dropped from 5.27 to 5.04.

TIED FOR SECOND: The Shorebirds are tied for second in the league with 40 outfield assists. Jeremy Nowak picked up his fourth yesterday to complete a double play. Lexington has 43 outfield assists to lead the league.

COLD HITTERS: The Shorebirds have several players that have gone cold at the plate. Garabez Rosa is 6-for-36 in his last nine games (.167), Brenden Webb is 3-for-24 (.125) in his last seven, Mikey Planeta is 4-32 (.125) in his last nine and Mike Mooney is 2-for-16 (.125) in his last five.

LUIS NOEL: The right-handed converted reliever has not allowed an earned run in his last four relief appearances (8.0 IP). He has a 1.64 ERA in five relief appearances.
