KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 8, 2011) -- Left fielder Collin Kuhn connected on a two-out grand slam, and Matt Heidenreich earned his team-leading 10th win as the Kannapolis Intimidators completed a sweep of the Delmarva Shorebirds with a 4-3 win on Monday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. With the win, the Intimidators stayed in first place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division second half standings.

Heidenreich (10-7) tossed seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits with two walks while striking out six. Despite giving up two early home runs to Delmarva, Heidenreich recovered to allow just one more run over his final four innings of work.

Justin Collop tossed a perfect eighth inning, and Wes Whisler shut the door with a 1-2-3 ninth inning, striking out two batters for his first save of the season.

Michael Ohlman led off the second inning with a home run (4) off Heidenreich to give the Shorebirds an early lead, 1-0, but Kannapolis would respond for their fourth come-from-behind win of the four-game series.

Dan Black singled to begin the bottom of the second inning, and Delmarva's Tim Berry walked Trayce Thompson and Leighton Pangilinan to load the bases. With two outs and the bases loaded, Kuhn blasted a 2-0 pitch over the left-centerfield wall for his first career grand slam, putting Kannapolis ahead, 4-1. Kuhn finished 1-for-2 with a career-high four RBI.

Riley Hornback got a run back for the Shorebirds with a solo home run (2) in the third inning, and he cashed Mikey Planeta on a ground out to pull Delmarva within a run, 4-3, in the fourth.

Berry took the loss for Delmarva, allowing four runs on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts in five innings.

Kannapolis has Tuesday off before returning to action in Hickory on Wednesday for a four-game series against the Hickory Crawdads. Kannapolis led Hickory in the Northern Division second half standings by a half-game entering today and could take a 1.5 games lead if the Crawdads lose tonight in Asheville.

The Intimidators return home on Sunday, August 14 for an eight-game home stand against the West Virginia Power and Hagerstown Suns. For ticket information, call the box office at (704) 932-3267 or visit www.IntimidatorsBaseball.com .
