Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws (24-20/57-55) salvaged a split of their 4 game series against West Virginia with a 10-7 triumph over the Power (19-25/54-58). It was a back and forth game that saw Lakewood erase a 7-3 deficit and score 7 unanswered runs to win 10-7. Lakewood's bullpen tossed 5 shutout innings, while the BlueClaws scored 7 times off of the West Virginia bullpen.

Jim Murphy hit his franchise record tying 22nd HR of the season with a monster 2 run homer in the 1st inning to put Lakewood up 2-1. He was 2-3 in all with a HR, single, 2 walks, 2 runs scored, and 2 RBI's. It was a very nice day the plate to say the least. Murphy was not the only BlueClaw with a nice day on Monday however.

Carlos Perdomo hit 9th and he was 3-4 with a double, 2 RBI's, and 2 runs scored. Cameron Rupp, Maikel Franco, and Miguel Alvarez all chipped in with 2 hits for Lakewood as well. As a team, the BlueClaws combined for 14 hits to push across 10 runs. Defensively the BlueClaws were not their sharpest as they committed 4 errors in the ball game.

The bullpen was lights out for Lakewood however limiting West Virginia to 4 hits and no runs through the final 5 innings of the game, and giving the BlueClaws bats a chance to get them back in the game. Hector Neris worked out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam to keep West Virginia off the scoreboard in the 6th, and Tyler Knigge got the win after facing the minimum in the 7th. Colby Shreve earned a 6 out save, his 2nd of the year.

The BlueClaws are off on Tuesday as they will travel to Greensboro, NC for a 4 game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers beginning on Wednesday. RHP Lisalberto Bonilla (2-3, 2.39 ERA) will start for Lakewood. Greensboro will send out LHP Rett Varner (5-6, 5.86 ERA) in the series opener. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
