PREVIEW: The Shorebirds lost the series opener in Rome, their first meeting with the Braves in three years. Delmarva has now dropped four games in a row dating back to the Hagerstown se- ries. Yesterday, the Shorebirds were shut out for the 10th time this year in a 8-0 defeat, managing just three hits all game.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: Steve Janas will start the middle game of the three-game set for Rome. Janas has compiled a 2-4 record with a 5.81 ERA in 10 appearances (9 starts) for the Braves. The right-hander has lost his last four decisions, with his most recent win coming on June 2nd. Janas is a local kid from Marietta, Georgia having played collegiate baseball at Kennesaw State Univer- sity. The Braves selected Janas in the 6th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

19TH SEASON: The 2014 season marks the 19th season of Shorebirds baseball on the Eastern Shore and 18th straight year as a Baltimore Orioles affiliate. The Shorebirds' first season was 1996 as a Montreal Expos farm team.

ORIOLES WATCH: The Baltimore Orioles lost a late lead in a 3-2 defeat to the Los Angeles Angels. The O's were six outs away from a sweep, but the Angels scored two runs in the 8th inning for the comeback. With the loss, Baltimore dropped a game in the standings with their lead in the AL East moving to 3 games over New York and Toronto.

THE IRON IS HOT: 19 out of the 25 players on the Shorebirds active roster appeared for the Ab- erdeen IronBirds in 2013. The IronBirds put together an impressive season, making the playoffs for the first time in their 12-year franchise history. Aberdeen won the McNamara Division in the New York-Penn League with a 40-32 record. The IronBirds lost in the first round of the NYPL play- offs, losing 2 games to 0 against the Tri-City Valley Cats.

The Shorebirds outfielder has raised up his game since the All-Star Break. Lorenzo is hitting .274 in 31 games in the second half, compared to .243 in the first half. His on-base percentage is .339, up from .303 in the first half. Lorenzo already has 16 RBIs since the break, which is more than the 11 RBIs he collected in 62 games before the All-Star Game.

WHO'S HOT - ALEX SANTANA

The Shorebirds' reliever pitched 2 1/3 score- less innings at Rome on Wednesday. Santana has now struck out 22 batters in 15 2/3 in- nings pitched. In seven straight appearances, Santana has struck out at least two batters.

WHO ELSE - CHANCE SISCO

The Shorebirds catcher is batting .387 (48- for-124) in 31 games in the second half. Sisco is now 1st in the SAL with a .342 batting average. Sisco just had his 18-game hitting streak snapped on Saturday.
