Frederick Keys News Release
Frederick, MD - "A Day In The Life", a weekly journal written by Keys' infielder Pete Shier debuted Tuesday on Fredericknewspost.com. Shier discusses missing his new family, baseball and his wacky life on the road with his teammates in this honest detailed account.
"I think a lot of people will be able to identify with what Pete has to say," said Frederick Keys General Manager Dave Ziedelis. "I think his down-to-earth attitude will appeal to our fans."
Shier, 25, was originally drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the ninth round of the 1999 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft and this year marks his third stint with the Keys. Arguably his best season came in 2003 when he hit .267 with eight homers in 74 games with the Keys before earning a promotion to Double-A Bowie. In 2005, Shier started the season playing independent ball in Nashua, NH before rejoining the Orioles organization.
The life and career of Pete Shier has not mirrored what generally comes to mind when people think of professional athletes. But Shier has persevered through all the ups and downs associated with playing minor league baseball.
